procedure
Create a definition
Create a Definition when you have a repeatable setup you want to measure in history — not just a one-off chart mark.
Chartnaut is an agent-powered trading environment. Start the create flow yourself, or let Conductor draft a Definition for you to review.
Start
Go to Research → Definitions → New definition.
Chartnaut opens the welcome screen. Nothing is created until you submit a name and confirm.
Two paths
AI-assisted
Choose AI-assisted
Describe the setup in plain language — instruments, timeframe, conditions
Chartnaut drafts a Definition in the Definition Builder
Review the chart preview and code
Name it and Create
Best when you know the idea but not the script.
Build it yourself
Choose Build it yourself
Open the Definition Builder with a starter template
Edit in chat, chart preview, or code
Name it and Create
Best when you already script indicators or want full control.
After create
You land on the definition detail page:
Overview — description and status
Collect — gather events
Studies — attach questions
Versions — freeze snapshots
Save a version snapshot before your first serious collect.
What good looks like
Named definition, one instrument in mind, first collect queued within the same session you created it.
Important distinctions
New definition = author time. No dataset yet.
Collect = separate step after the script works on preview.
Creating a Definition does not collect events automatically.
Next
Definition Builder — chat, chart, code
Versions and snapshots — lock before collect
Collect a dataset — first run
