Dashboard
The Dashboard is your home base — so you can decide what to do next without hunting the sidebar.
Open it from Navigate → Dashboard. You need an active trial or subscription. If your plan is inactive, Chartnaut sends you to Subscription first.
What you can do here
Start or continue practice
Check Getting Started goals
See connected brokers and capacity
Jump into playbooks or recent sessions
Connect MetaTrader when you’re ready to trade live
What’s on the page
Quick actions
Top right:
New Session — start a practice session
Sessions — open your Backtest list
Playbooks — open your strategies
Study — begin research work (skip until trading and journaling feel natural)
Getting Started goals
A short checklist while you’re ramping — for example create a Playbook, run a first backtest, or complete a playbook challenge shown in the product.
Click a goal to jump to the right screen. When you’ve outgrown onboarding, this card stops being the focus.
Accounts
A compact view of connected brokers and Broker Capacity.
Connect MetaTrader for live Real-time trading, or Chartnaut Demo for live markets with virtual money. Demo is free for capacity. Live links spend capacity while connected. More broker platforms are coming soon.
Open Trading → Accounts to connect or free capacity.
Activity
Summary stats for trades, practice time, playbooks, and recent activity.
The activity chart shows two kinds of practice:
Backtesting — simulation session trades (“trades taken” on this screen)
Data Collection — playbook practice trades (“logged trades” on this screen)
Both still live in the same Trades journal. The Dashboard is showing how you’ve been practicing.
Playbooks
Cards for each strategy. Open one to manage it. Empty state → create your first playbook.
Recent sessions
Shortcuts back into sessions you’ve already run — continue in Terminal Replay, or open session reports. Prefer continuing a named session over starting endless drafts.
A healthy routine
Open Navigate → Dashboard
Knock out one Getting Started goal if you’re new
Check Accounts — reconnect Demo / MetaTrader or free capacity if needed
Choose your next 30 minutes: New Session, a Playbook, Sessions, or Accounts → Terminal Real-time
After you trade, come back tomorrow and confirm activity moved
Important distinctions
On this screen, Data Collection means playbook practice activity — not research Collect under Definitions.
Study is research. You don’t need it to journal practice trades.
