Continue your backtesting

Backtest sessions save your place. You can close the Terminal, come back later, and trade the same historical run again — same instruments, same date range, same simulated account.

Open a saved session

  1. Open Backtest in the sidebar.

  2. Click the session you want to continue (or find it under Dashboard recents).

  3. On the session page, click Play (top right).

Chartnaut loads the Terminal with that session attached. Your charts, simulated time position, and open sim positions pick up from how you left the session.

What you'll see in the Terminal

  • The session card at the top shows which backtest is loaded and whether playback is running.

  • Play / pause advances historical time.

  • Speed controls how fast bars move (when available).

  • Trades you take still land in Trades like any other backtest fill.

You do not need to create a new session each time you practice — resume the same one until you're done with that run.

If Play is disabled or nothing loads

  • Confirm the session finished creating (not a failed draft).

  • Check that instruments in the session still have market data for the chosen range.

  • Try opening the session from Backtest again rather than switching Terminal modes manually.

Not the same as position replay

Continue your backtesting = the full session timeline in the Terminal.

Position replay (from Trades on one fill) reopens chart context around a single journaled trade — see Position replay.

Next

  1. Create a session — start a new backtest

  2. Review a session — reports and journal trades
